QuickBooks 2011 Automatic Credit Card Billing – LOST!

I just replaced my computer and installed QuickBooks Pro 2011 on the new computer. I moved my data files and checked to make sure that the automatic/recurring credit card billing information was there — and it was. However, I looked yesterday and found it is all gone!! I went through this before and don’t want to do it again!

I called, waited for 45 minutes and spoke with a lady that said there was a technical problem and they will fix it for me on their end. We’ll see…

[UPDATE 6/6/10] On Sunday afternoon, 6/5, I received a phone call and email from Patrick at Intuit apologizing for the missing recurring credit card data and informing me that they restored everything to how it was a few weeks ago.  The email included a special email address for the issue and the voicemail included a way of calling for expedited service. All my recurring credit card charges happened on the correct day and everything seems to be back to normal.

I was working on a Windows Vista laptop that was infected and all the user files were hidden. This is my third computer with similar symptoms this week… After running MalwareBytes’ Antimalware, some things just didn’t “feel” right and Windows Update wouldn’t work, with this error: Error 80072EFE.

After reading some, I found this post, which had the solution: run Kaspersky’s TDSSKiller. It found a boot sector virus; I chose to Restore the boot sector (which can be risky). It did the trick!

[SOLUTION] Transfer QuickBooks user dictionary

I have used my QuickBooks 2008 for 2 years and have built up a big user dictionary for the spell check, but when I switched computers and installed QuickBooks 2011, it kept asking me to change misspelled words again. I searched and couldn’t find good instructions on how to move the dictionary over, so here is what I did:Mountains Photo

These steps should work for most QuickBooks editions and operation systems, although you may have to tweak some steps based on your configuration.

 

Adobe Reader 9 & Reader X print garbage

I’ve dealt with Adobe Reader 9 printing garbled characters/garbage for a few years now with my clients and I’ve never found an actual fix. It is happening with Adobe Reader X as well. My best answer has been to leave the document open until printing is complete and it seems to prevent the problem, but how can this go on for so long on so many computers? I’m talking about multiple computer makes, models, ages, various printers.kahovka-service

Maybe I can get some answers by showing up on Google and working with others! Please comment if you have suggestions.

I ran into a situation where the LiveUpdate component wasn’t working properly for Symantec Endpoint Protection. It is a long story, but it was mainly because the newest version of LiveUpdate was uninstalled. If you need to reinstall LiveUpdate without reinstalling the whole product, you can find links here:

[SOLUTION] HP nc6400 wireless button not working

I was working on setting up 10 HP Compaq nc6400 laptops and one would not allow the wireless button to light up in blue. The driver was installed, but it didn’t show any networks in range.veroxybd.com

My fix was to press F10 as soon as I turned on the computer, went the the System Configuration menu, Built-In Device Options, and I changed Embedded WLAN Device Radio from Enable to Disable (use the arrows)*. Hit F10, then ESC, Save Changes and Exit. I booted into Windows, shut down, then went in to change it back to Enable. Once I got back to Windows it worked!

*If your setting is set to Disable, set it to Enable and it should fix your problem.

DECORATION ART, LLC fraud charge

On another blog post asking folks to comment about small dollar fraud charges, scores of comments were left about Decoration Art, LLC.  My first report was by Stacie on Sep 22, 2010. Comment here is it hit you!

If it’s like other operations I’ve seen in the past, this business owner may be a money mule not knowing that the charges are actually entered (with stolen credit card numbers) by the same bad guys that Mr. Lee wires a cut of the money to.  The owner better be careful, because money mules are a big target of law enforcement. Even though they get such small amounts in, they probably wire amounts just under $10,000 offshore to evade the law.
